When you move into paid design, our team develops one distinct unit design into a complete manufacturing package. You own that package and can choose whether to place a production order with SandBox.

Your design investment goes toward your units.
Design-fee credits begin after your first 10 units. Receive $2,500 toward each of units 11–20, recouping the full $25,000 design fee when you reach 20 units.

A custom idea, made real.
Desert Reef
The customer came to SandBox with a concept developed by their architect. Our role was to work out how to manufacture it—from the curved form to the distinctive scale cladding—and bring it into production. Compare the architectural rendering with the completed unit below to see how the design carries through into the finished form, glazing, and cladding.

From design lock to delivery.
02 / Build your units
Allow approximately 30–60 days of production after design lock, depending on the complexity of the unit.
03 / Ship and coordinate arrival
Allow approximately 30 days for shipping to our U.S. location. Plan on roughly 2–3 months after design lock, with final site arrival coordinated around domestic transport and site readiness.

We can help coordinate transport and placement. Some units arrive on wheels; others require a crane. These costs depend on your project.
The details, upfront.
Ownership and exclusivity
You own your paid design package and may take it to another manufacturer. Your design remains exclusive when SandBox manufactures it; exclusivity does not continue if you use another manufacturer.
Design scope
The $25,000 fee covers a single distinct unit design for an RVIA unit. It does not include site design or site-specific engineering. Engineering-stamped drawings for modular construction may carry additional fees depending on state requirements.
Utility connections
The unit is supplied with a 30-amp or 50-amp electrical hookup, a ¾-inch garden-hose water connection, and a 3-inch sewer connection. Your team provides the on-site utilities and foundation or prepared support surface appropriate for your site.
